Three Cheers To Wellies

As someone who hates Uggs with a passion, i was in desperate need of a boot that i could wear 'casually' or for those 'lazy Sunday' days. However, i refused to buy Uggs, Emu, and the like. You couldn't even pay me a million dollars to wear 'em, i'm that devoted. And so, i thought wellingtons, "rain boots" would be perfect for such days. You can pair 'em with jeans, dresses, leggings or even sweats (don't sweat, haha, i wouldn't be seen out in sweats ever!).

I love, love, love, love wellingtons. They're like uggs but a 106995079501969790 times better. Actually, sorry, wellies ARE NOT at all like uggs. I apologize, forgive me?

I recently just bought two pairs of wellies, a short black pair and a taller green pair with a buckle, and i hope to purchase a pair by the well known wellington brand, Hunter.

You're probably wondering how to wear rain boots? Let me ask you a question: How do you wear Ugg boots? You can wear these bad boys any way imaginable that you can wear those precious ugg boots but more. Can you wear a summer dress with ugg boots and still be considered fashionable? Yes? Well, i'm going to have to disagree unless proven otherwise. Ugg boots are too casual and rain boots add a whole new level to an outfit. They are very easy to wear, just follow these steps, it's as easy as 123 and ABC, yo!

1. Wellingtons look best with skinnies, dark denim or black denim. Or leggings. DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT wear your wellies with wide leg, baggy pants. You will look very sloppy. The reason why wellingtons look best with skinnies/leggings is because the tops of the boot are made floppy and wide, so to create a narrow line down th

e leg, skinnies best give off this look.

2. The wash of the jean and the boots should match somewhat. If you want to rock a pair of bright wellies, dark denim works well. Solid dark colours (forest green/black) look good with lighter denim. AVOID pairing acid wash denim with patterned rain boots - it'll be sartorial overkill.

It's not applicable here but rain boots are perfect to wear to music festivals. You still want to look cute right, in case you run into Ezra Koenig or Fabrizio Moretti. Well don't worry, you can still look good in a dress and your favourite pair of wellies. If anything, it'll catch the eye of your favourite Strokes boy.

How to Pull off This Look:

A billowy dress in a soft floral print is perfect to offset the chunkiness of the boot. Fashion is all about contrasts baby. Try it, you'll love it.

You can wear your wellies with shorts too. Like so:

Wear them with or without tights, a basic tee or graphic tee, and your set. Perfect for those muddy summer music festivals.

Wellies are so versatile. These little booties can be worn in the summer, winter, spring and fall. Get a pair or two, you won't regret it. Trust me.
